Henri Rashid Sfeir was born in Rayfoun, Kesrwan. He married Katia Boulos who passed away in the year 1991. Henri Rashid Sfeir attended the Collège des Frères in Tripoli (Lebanon) elementary school, to move afterward to l’Université Saint-Joseph in Beirut where he finished his primary and secondary education. He chose Paris as his destination to continue his higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in sciences, followed by a graduate degree in engineering and another bachelor’s degree in economic sciences.

He worked for the Litani River Authority in Lebanon in the year 1961. During the two years that followed, he created and established a salt factory in Lebanon. He established afterward a construction company in Lebanon as well.

Henri Rashid Sfeir entered the banking sector in the year 1973 and became the major shareholder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Adcom Bank.

He was nominated by his supporters to the parliamentary elections in 1972, as well as in 1992 and 1996. He won in the last two elections; however, the repressive authority in power at the time wanted otherwise. The story of how they cut the electric supply – including all lightings – during the ballot counting in order to alter the results is well known to the public.
